ASA Members Recieve Scholarships to Attend ASRW

ASA-Ohio is happy to announce that two members have received scholarships to attend Automotive Service and Repair Week in Orlando, Florida, October 5-8. James Noe, manager for Nagy’s Collision Specialists, Orrville, Ohio, is the recipient of this year’s Richard Cossette/Gale Westerlund Memorial Scholarship. ASA-Ohio to Host Meetings with Ohio EPA

ASA-Ohio will be hosting meetings in September with the Ohio EPA Office of Compliance Assistance and Pollution Prevention (OCAPP). The meetings will be held throughout the state and will be offered free of charge. The focus of this opportunity is to give independent shops access to information regarding EPA regulation. Illegal Repair Shop Locked Down

Columbus – The Ohio Board of Motor Vehicle Collision Repair Registration, in conjunction with the Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine’s Office, the Belmont County Common Pleas Court and the Belmont County Sheriff’s Department, carried out a court order Wednesday to lock down an illegal auto repair facility. ASRW Education Schedules Now Available

Education schedules for Automotive Service and Repair Week (ASRW) 2011 are now available. Education tracks include mechanical, collision, management, technical and women’s professional development, and many sessions within the conference program are approved for AMI credits. The Automotive Management Institute is accepting applications for six scholarships for Automotive Service and Repair Week this coming October. ASRW which houses NACE and CARS will be held in Orlando, Florida, October 5-8th. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has changed rules, making it easier for manufacturers to sell fuel conversion systems. The fuel conversion systems allow vehicles to run on alternative fuels. The revised procedures will vary based on the age of the vehicle or engine being converted. The EPA has found that the procedures for converting the fuel systems of older vehicles and engines can be streamlined, while maintaining environmental safety precautions.
